Frequently asked questions

What is GoodAtAI?
GoodAtAI is a premium online course that teaches you how to prompt AI properly, so you get genuinely useful results instead of generic waffle. The main course, The GoodAtAI Prompting Course, is built around our BRIEF Method and uses Claude as the tool for every example. You also get a bonus track, Claude Essentials, covering set-up, files and data, power features and everyday business uses.
Who is the course for?
UK adults who want to get properly good at using AI: small business owners, tradespeople, office workers, professionals, and complete beginners. If you've tried AI and found the answers bland, or you've never really known what to type, this course is for you.
Do I need any technical skills?
No. If you can write an email, you can do this course. Everything is explained in plain English, and every technique comes with copy-and-paste examples. No coding is required.
What exactly is the BRIEF Method?
BRIEF is GoodAtAI's five-part framework for writing prompts: Background (the situation), Role (who the AI should be), Instruction (the exact job), Examples (what good looks like) and Format (length, layout and tone). Module 2 teaches each element in turn, and you'll use it throughout the course.
Why focus on prompting rather than features?
Because prompting is where most people struggle, and it's the skill that makes everything else work. Features change every few months; the ability to brief an AI clearly lasts. The Claude Essentials bonus track covers the features too, but the main course makes you good at the part that matters most.
Will the techniques work with other AI assistants?
Yes. We teach with Claude, but BRIEF is about clear communication, so the techniques transfer to any modern AI assistant you use now or in future.
Is GoodAtAI official or affiliated with Anthropic?
No. GoodAtAI is an independent course. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic, the company that makes Claude. That independence lets us be straight with you about what works and where you still need a human check.
How much does it cost?
The course is a one-off payment of £47. That includes lifetime access to the full Prompting Course, the Claude Essentials bonus track, all videos, the Prompt Lab and your personalised prompt pack, plus 30 days of the AI tutor free.
How long do I have access?
Lifetime access to the course lessons, videos and your prompt pack, including future updates to the course content.
What is the AI tutor, and what happens after 30 days?
The AI tutor is a personal assistant inside your account that answers your questions, helps with your own prompts and talks you through real tasks from your work. It's included free for your first 30 days. After that it's optional at £7 a month, and you can cancel any time from your account page. If you don't continue, you keep full lifetime access to everything else.
How do I cancel the AI tutor subscription?
Cancel from your account page at any time. There's no phone call or email needed. You'll keep tutor access until the end of the period you've paid for.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you're not happy, ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase, as long as you've completed less than 25% of the lessons.
How is the course personalised to me?
When you join, a short onboarding quiz asks about your industry, role, experience with AI, goals, devices and how you like to learn. We use your answers to recommend where to start, highlight the most relevant lessons and build your personalised prompt pack for your industry.
What's in the personalised prompt pack, and how do I download it?
Your pack contains 15 ready-to-use prompts written for your industry, each with a note on when to use it and [PLACEHOLDERS] to fill in, plus the BRIEF Method cheat sheet. Once you've completed the onboarding quiz, go to the Downloads section of your account and click to download. You can re-download it at any time, and change your industry to regenerate it.
What is the Prompt Lab?
The Prompt Lab is a set of 30 practice drills based on real situations across different industries and difficulty levels. Each gives you a weak prompt to rewrite. You submit your version and get instant AI feedback on how to improve it, plus a model answer to compare with.
Can I do the course on my phone?
Yes. The course works on phones, tablets and computers. Lessons are short (usually 5–7 minutes), so they fit into a commute or lunch break. For hands-on exercises, many people like having Claude open on a computer, but the mobile app works too.
How long does the course take?
The main Prompting Course has 42 short lessons and most people complete it in 4–6 hours spread over a few weeks. The Claude Essentials bonus track adds about 1.5–2 hours. Go at your own pace; there are no deadlines.
Do I need a paid Claude subscription?
No. You can follow the course on Claude's free plan. Paid plans give you more usage and extra features, some of which are covered in the bonus track. Plans, prices and limits change, so check claude.ai for current details. We'd suggest starting free and upgrading only if you find you need more.
What's the difference between free and paid Claude?
In general terms, the free plan lets you use Claude properly but with tighter usage limits. Paid plans offer more usage, access to the most capable models and extra features such as Projects. Team and Enterprise plans add admin and collaboration features for organisations. Details change regularly, so check claude.ai for current plans.
Are my AI tutor chats private?
Your tutor conversations are private to your account. We don't share them with other learners or sell them. Messages are processed securely by our AI provider purely to generate your tutor's replies, as set out in our privacy policy. As with any AI tool, avoid entering passwords, payment details or other people's sensitive personal data.
Is it safe to put my business information into Claude?
It depends on what you share and your settings. Module 8 covers this in detail. In short: share only what's needed, replace names and identifiers with placeholders, never paste passwords or payment details, check your privacy settings, and follow your organisation's policies.
Will AI give me wrong information?
Sometimes, yes. AI can occasionally state incorrect things confidently, which is known as hallucination. The course teaches you how to prompt in ways that reduce this (supplying facts, asking for sources, allowing 'I don't know') and how to check outputs before relying on them.
Can I use Claude for legal, tax or medical questions?
You can use it to understand topics, prepare questions and draft documents, and the course shows you how. But it isn't a substitute for a qualified professional. For decisions with real consequences, always confirm with a solicitor, accountant, doctor or other qualified adviser.
Will the course stay up to date as Claude changes?
Yes. AI tools change quickly, so we review and update the course regularly, and updates are included in your lifetime access. The core BRIEF skills don't go out of date, which is why the main course focuses on them.
Can I buy the course for my team?
Yes. Email hello@goodatai.co.uk and we'll put together a team price. Many businesses find a shared approach to prompting, and a shared prompt library, makes everyone's output more consistent.
I'm a complete beginner and slightly nervous. Is that OK?
Absolutely. The course starts from zero and builds up gradually. Every lesson has a short 'Try this now' exercise so you learn by doing, and the AI tutor is there to answer questions you might feel silly asking anywhere else.
What if I get stuck?
Use the AI tutor (free for your first 30 days) for help with lessons or your own tasks, or email us at hello@goodatai.co.uk and a real person will help.
What's the single best tip for getting better results from Claude?
Give it Background. Tell it who you are, who the output is for and what's going on. Most disappointing answers come from missing context, and adding two or three relevant facts transforms the result.
